Opening an Italian bank
account
Most banks in Italy will only allow foreigners to open a bank account on presentation of a residence certificate (certificato di residenza). However it may be worth discussing your options with an Italian bank with a branch in the UK as they can often help liaise with a local branch in Italy.
To open an account you may be asked to provide:
- A valid passport
- A valid residence certificate
(certificado di residenza) - Proof of address in Italy eg. utility bill
- Birth certificate
- Proof of income eg. tax return
- Reference from your UK bank
